Journalism Events in the Spring Semester

Our Journalism students have often mentioned how much they have enjoyed it when we have a guest speaker come in and give a lecture on whatever their speciality may be.  Hearing directly from a practicioner point of view, on a range of topics, can indeed be a truly inspiring experience for the listener.

This semester, we have put together a programme of events, which we hope will give students the opportunity to become informed and ask their own questions.  Most of these events are open lectures so everyone is welcome to attend.

28th February: “Magazine Journalism”.  This will be the first in our series of ‘Journalist’s Jam’ sessions and it will be presented by Margot Wilson, former Editor of Scotland on Sunday magazine.  The session will take place in G18, 4.00 – 5.00pm.

11th March: “Freedom of Information Case Studies”, will be presented by Kevin Dunion OBE, who is Scotland’s first Information Commissioner.  This event will take place in Cottrell W1, 10.00 – 11.00am.

17th March: “The Art of Public Relations”. Guest lecture by Tom Collins.  Tom is the former Editor of The Irish News.  This lecture will take place in Pathfoot, LTA96, 10.00 – 11.00am.

21st March: Journalist’s Jam Session #2.  This will be presented by Tom Collins, former editor of The Irish News. This session will be held in G18, 4.00 – 5.00pm.
